IGNOU vs DU SOL eligibility: who can enrol

IGNOU is open to all, with no stated age or region bar. DU SOL publishes no minimum age bar for undergraduate and postgraduate admissions. Both universities allow students from various backgrounds to enrol.

IGNOU states that foreign students residing in India are eligible for selected programmes if they hold a valid student visa for the minimum duration of the programme. DU SOL uses online MCQ-based internal assessments each semester, held before the semester examinations. DU SOL states that internal assessment, including continuous assessment, is 30 marks, and the semester examination is 70 marks, out of 100 for all programmes.

IGNOU conducts its TEE twice a year, in June and December, across examination centres in India and abroad. For the December 2026 TEE, the examination fee at IGNOU is Rs. 200 per theory course. Project and practical exams cost Rs. 300 for up to 4 credits and Rs. 500 for above 4 credits.

IGNOU states that for UG programmes like BCOMF, a learner needs at least 35% (Grade D) separately in assignments and the TEE to pass each course. For MCA_NEW, 40% is required in assignments and 40% in the TEE, with an overall 40%. DU SOL states that for UG programmes, a letter grade P (Pass) equals 4 grade points. M.A. programmes require a minimum of 40% to pass any paper in a semester, while MBA programmes require 45% in aggregate per semester and a minimum of 40% (IA + semester-end) in each paper. Re-evaluation at IGNOU costs Rs. 750 per course and must be requested within 40 days of result declaration.
