IGNOU B.Sc Mathematics assessment: assignments, term-end exams and pass marks

The IGNOU B.Sc Mathematics programme assesses learners through assignments and term-end examinations. Assignments are compulsory for all courses. Learners must submit assignment responses before they can take the Term-End Examination for that course. These Tutor Marked Assignments (TMAs) are submitted to the Coordinator of the learner’s Learner Support Centre.

IGNOU conducts Term-End Examinations (TEEs) twice a year, in June and December. Learners can appear for the TEE at examination centres across the country and abroad. The examination fee is Rs. 200 per theory course. For project and practical exams, the fee is Rs. 300 for courses up to 4 credits, and Rs. 500 for courses above 4 credits, applicable from the January 2023 admission cycle.

Hall tickets for the TEE are uploaded on the University website; they are not sent by post. Learners have two daily exam sessions: 10 AM to 1 PM and 2 PM to 5 PM. Students registered in English medium can write their exam in Hindi, except for language programmes. If an assignment is failed, it must be re-submitted. Once an assignment is passed, it cannot be re-submitted to improve the grade.

Only term-end theory exams can be re-evaluated, not projects, practicals, workshops, assignments, or seminars. A copy of an answer script costs Rs. 100 per course. Bachelor’s students who are within 2% marks of a 2nd or 1st division have one opportunity to improve their division. For an early declaration of results, Indian students pay Rs. 1000 per course, with proof of selection for a post or further studies.
